How can I activate the low-cut filter of Genelec SAM monitors?

Our SAM monitors offer an internal low-cut filter to allow correct crossovers for bass management. If you're using a SAM subwoofer and choose bass management and a crossover frequency, the matching low-cut in the speaker is set automatically. The subwoofer can then send the full-range signal to the speakers.

Let's say you're using a third-party sub that also sends the signal in full range. You can still access and set the low-cut filters of our speakers.

Even if there is no Genelec SAM subwoofer in your GLM setup, you can still activate Bass Management and then choose a frequency. The speakers will then use this frequency for the low-cut filter.

You can also make use of this function to listen to material with less bass extension—for example, to simulate a smaller speaker.

It’s also great for late-night listening when you don't want low end traveling through a building.

Just use different groups to have options available for easy switching.

Here is how to edit settings:

  • Choose an existing group
  • Choose Group Preset > Duplicate
  • Choose Group Preset > Edit
  • Leave Bass Management at Global
  • Switch from Full Band to the low-cut frequency (you can choose between 50 Hz and 120 Hz for most models)
