We can’t be specific about brands or models, but we always recommend high quality professional
headphones, as these have low distortion, low L/R variation and less colouration. Exotic headphone
frequency responses can skew the resulting colouration and localisation though, so it’s beneficial
to use professional headphones with relatively neutral sound characteristics. The reason for this is
that the headphone frequency response can interact, as it is another filtering effect on top of the
information in the Aural ID.

We don’t recommend consumer headphones, and wireless headphones
can compress audio in a way that can be detrimental to reproducing fine details in audio, so they
are best avoided. Whichever type of headphones you use, you can further optimise your listening
experience.
