Speakers not making sound at computer startup

When I boot my system at the start of the day, my Genelec 8240A's & Sub 7260A are silent.  I have to use the GLMv5 "Store to Loudspeakers" command sometimes several times to get the speakers to work.  This seems to have started several years ago with a GLM update and is getting worse over time.  Sometimes I have to start Pro Tools first then "Store to Loudspeakers" for sound to happen.

Your 8240A monitors and 7260A subwoofer should not require repeated use of the "Store to Loudspeakers" command just to produce sound each day. Normally, once settings are stored, your system should recall them at startup—especially if you are using the “Stored” mode for standalone operation.

Here are a few things to check and try:

    1. Firmware Update:
Early SAM models like the 8240A may require a firmware update to ensure reliable operation with newer versions of GLM. Please check in GLM if a firmware update is available for your monitors and subwoofer.
    2. Stored Mode DIP Switch:
Make sure the “Stored” DIP switch on the back of each 8240A and the 7260A is set to ON. This ensures the monitors and subwoofer use the stored settings at startup.
    3. Startup Level:
Check the “Startup Level” setting in GLM before storing to loudspeakers. If it’s set too low, the system may seem silent at startup.
    4. Cabling and Connections:
Inspect all CAT cables and connectors for wear or damage, as intermittent connections can cause communication issues.

If you have tried these steps and the issue persists, I would advise you to create a ticket and we can consult our R&D for further assistance.
