GLM shows the current version and the available version.
Several speakers have a newer current version than the available version. One has the same version as the available.
For example, several 8320 and 8330 show version 1.14.7.6281 in use, while the available version according to GLM for these is 1.12.5.5047 (8320) and 5027 (8330). I have one 8330, which has 1.12.1.5027 in use, and can't be updated any further since, from a GLM point of view, this is already the latest version. Also, 8341 shows the current version 1.24.07.6470, while version 1.20.2.5009 is available according to GLM.
I have tested all 5.x GLM versions; also, the 4.2.2 version has the same version availability problem. Or have you pulled out the latest firmware?
I have the following firmware in use:
- GLM 1.4.0.6113
- 8320A 1.14.7.6281 and 1.12.1.5027
- 8330A 1.14.7.6281
- 8341A 1.24.07.6470
- 7350A 1.12.1.5027
Also, one other thing I noticed: When 7350 shows a clip, the I/O level also goes around and starts from over until the clip situation is no longer there, and levels begin to drop from -0,0 toward -130 dBFS. I feel that level should saturate and not have byte overflow to start over from -130.
It would be nice to have a place to check which is actually the latest release for the speaker, and maybe a release note to see which bugs have been fixed and new features added.
Comments
I think I was previously using GLM 5.2.1, which seems to have been withdrawn since then. That would explain why the speaker firmware version I have installed is newer than the latest one currently available.
