Where is the bass? And the sound waves sometimes

Hi,
I have the following setup
- 2x 8330A
- 1x 7350A
- 1x Bluesound Node N132, purchased a day ago
- I am using the latest GLM 5.1.1 version.
As a sound source Spotify on the device or LG TV/HDMI eARC and TV's Spotify.

I have tried to get this to work properly but I just can't seem to get it to work. I have compared analog and digital but I don't really notice a difference.

Currently I have a Bluesound Node N132 and this (RCA - BNC short cable) with a 75ohm -> 110ohm (Neutrik) adapter digitally so that subwoofer, speaker 1 and speaker 2. I also tried speaker 1 -> speaker 2 -> subwoofer. This shouldn't have a marking in a digital system.

For some reason the bass just doesn't play. I have tried it without doing any calibrations and the bass is a uniform 50Hz. I don't adjust any levels or anything, so there is almost no bass. If I lower the reverberation levels, even by -10dB, something starts to sound, but it doesn't feel right.

If I calibrate again and listen afterwards, the bass is still really muffled. Regarding the calibration, I can hear how the different levels of the bass are being reviewed. Even if I lower the levels after this by -10dB. Regarding the calibration, I can hear how the different levels of the bass are being reviewed.

I then calculated with either option, even -20dB, etc., this completely ruins the bass.

So what am I doing wrong or is the subwoofer broken?

Another thing I have noticed is that when I previously tried the WiiM Ultra player, there is an effect on digital, also with Bluesound, that there is a wavy sound. The sound then came through the TV or directly through the device. I would describe it as first the right speaker drops out for less than a second, then the other for less than a second and the sound returns. This was at least noted on the WiiM side, but it was also said that Genelec's own DAC could be the cause, that there is a bad signal that would cause this. More information can be found here https://forum.wiimhome.com/threads/dropouts-on-coaxial-output-with-arc-input.4971/

I have changed cables and adapters but these have had no effect in either case.

I can provide more information if I know what to provide.

Is this really just bad luck that one doesn't work together or something is broken?

Hi! This sounds like it would be worth having a Zoom session ... ;-) I'll contact you soon!

Thanks for update. I was thinking also that I am requesting more than system should do for as home user.

I did some experiments. I used PCM or pass-through for audio on the TV, and in both cases this sound waving occurs.

I recalibrated without a sub and with a sub and there is no bass at all. Really strange. I've been changing instruments and other things for a couple of years now but then I don't know what's wrong.

Thank you very much for going through this. I had understood things more or less correctly and did as you had instructed in the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcJhDEwbaeI. I had previously gone through the video and now again, so I was able to implement and understand the matter better in my case.

Calibration etc. were in order and if anyone else comes across something similar, then Sound Character Profiler is the magic word here through which you can bring out more bass. It is worth trying this with different settings, creating your own groups where this SCP setting is 85Hz, 100Hz and trying even higher ones, you will notice the difference in this regard.

By default, the soundscape/calibration is done at a level of 0dB, which is not the best possible in all situations since I also have a mixed listening style.

We are still investigating this sound fluctuation.

If anyone else is also experiencing sound dropouts when using the Bluesound Node 132, it probably also affects older models when using the digital output. The solution is to disable the Audio clock trim function. That way there will be no extra clock frequency for the speakers, etc.
